Presidential Candidate Scorecard

Reclaim Philadelphia’s political education committee has researched the platforms of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and created this candidate scorecard, grading each candidate’s record, analysis, alignment with Reclaim Philadelphia’s platform and the viability of what they propose. We narrowed our efforts to Bernie and Warren because Reclaim members voted overwhelmingly for them in our previous candidate poll (66% of members voted for Sanders as their first choice, 32% for Warren as their first choice).

Members will vote on Reclaim’s presidential endorsement (as well as other local races) beginning January 18th at our citywide meeting. Voting continues online through January 25th and endorsements will be announced on January 26th.

Here is the criteria the PE committee used to grade each issue-

History/record - 0-15pts Does this candidate have a record of fighting for this issue and a history of speaking about this issue in line with our analysis? 

Analysis - 0-20 pts Does this candidate share our analysis about this issue regarding its roots in systemic oppression including capitalism, patriarchy and white supremacy?

Alignment with RP platform or essence of platform - 0-50 pts Does this candidate’s plan include the planks of Reclaim’s matching platform or exceed its expectations while aiming for the desired vision? 

Viability of plan - 0-15pts - Is there a clearly stated plan to achieve the proposed policies that begins with a revolutionary shift in what’s politically possible while also articulating a method for reaching it.

*Edit note - the original version included a grading mistake on Universal Access, scoring an 87 as an A letter grade for Warren. That letter grade has been corrected to a B+
