#CommunityControlNow Teach-In Video Recap

Let’s bring transparency to Philadelphia policing. The current FOP contract is hidden from view. The public can’t see the terms of the agreement and can’t get information about officer behavior, discipline, and compensation. It’s time for a change. #CommunityControlNow

It’s time to ensure bad police officers are held accountable. Under Act 111, police officers can evade discipline on the local level through arbitration. We need a new oversight body that has the authority to investigate complaints about officer conduct. #CommunityControlNow

Philadelphia’s current FOP contract operates on an inflated budget. With 15% of the city budget, the PPD has disproportionately targeted Black and Brown residents in our city. It’s time to reduce its budget, which gets more funding than any other service. #CommunityControlNow

Philadelphia’s current FOP contract treats bad cops like upstanding citizens. This must change. Officers who use excessive force, abuse their authority, and discriminate on the basis of race should be disciplined. #CommunityControlNow
