Raising Our Collective Consciousness: A Harm Reduction Awareness and Overdose Reversal Training

  • St. Michael's Lutheran Church 2139 E Cumberland St Philadelphia, PA United States (map)

Reclaim Philadelphia’s Riverwards neighborhood chapter is partnering with SOL Collective to host a Harm Reduction Awareness and Overdose Reversal training on Wednesday, April 30th, from 6-8 pm at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church.

We believe that compassionate, accessible, evidence-based harm reduction services strengthen the health and welfare of our neighborhood and save lives. As a whole, our neighborhood chapter members have consistently identified harm reduction as one of the most important local issues to support and have requested we host an education session on the topic. Supporting and engaging in harm reduction is an immediate way we can all, as good neighbors, show up and better care for one another, including some of our most vulnerable community members.

Through this training, we aim to create a thoughtful, safe space for Reclaim members– as well as neighbors, friends and family members– to learn more about harm reduction as an approach, address myths about substance use in our community, discuss person-centered language to use (and terminology to avoid), offer an opportunity for folks to ask questions, and invite folks (if they’d like) to share or discuss personal experiences with harm reduction, substance use, addiction, the opioid crisis, and related issues in our community.
